Limited Company Services

Limited company
accountants, London.

Annual accounts, corporation tax, payroll, VAT and directors' tax for London limited companies — fixed fees, no jargon.

In Short

Do I need an accountant for a limited company?

There's no legal requirement to use one, but every limited company must file annual accounts with Companies House, a CT600 corporation tax return with HMRC (even if it made a loss) and a confirmation statement, and most also run payroll and VAT returns on top of the directors' own self assessment. These are time-consuming and easy to get wrong, so most directors use an accountant. Brathwaite handles all of it on a fixed fee.

Deadlines & Corporation Tax

A limited company pays corporation tax on its profits: 19% on profits up to £50,000, 25% on profits over £250,000, and marginal relief in between. Accounts are due at Companies House within 9 months of the year-end, corporation tax is payable 9 months and 1 day after it, and the CT600 return is due within 12 months.

Directors also have personal tax to think about. How you take money out of the company, as salary, dividends or pension contributions, changes how much tax you pay, and the best mix changes each tax year. We review it with you every year. See our corporation tax service for more.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a limited company accountant do?

A limited company accountant prepares and files the company's annual accounts with Companies House and its corporation tax return with HMRC, runs payroll, handles VAT returns and the confirmation statement, and prepares the directors' self assessment returns. A good one also plans ahead: how to pay yourself, which expenses and reliefs to claim, and when tax is due.

When are a limited company's accounts and corporation tax due?

Annual accounts must be filed with Companies House within 9 months of the company's year-end. Corporation tax is payable 9 months and 1 day after the end of the accounting period, and the CT600 return must be filed within 12 months of it. Late filing of the CT600 brings an automatic £100 penalty.

How much corporation tax will my company pay?

Corporation tax is 19% on profits up to £50,000 and 25% on profits over £250,000, with marginal relief in between. A company must file a CT600 even if it made a loss or owes no tax. We calculate your liability and advise on reliefs such as capital allowances and R&D tax credits.

Can you set up a new limited company for me?

Yes. A limited company is registered through Companies House, typically within 24 hours online. We handle the whole process, including share structure, directors, the PSC register and HMRC registrations for corporation tax, PAYE and VAT.

Can you switch me from my current accountant?

Yes. Switching is straightforward and we handle the entire process, including contacting your previous accountant for a professional clearance letter and obtaining all your records. There is no gap in service.
